Biography

Chinomnso Onwunta is a change agent and Vice President - International Liaison and Partnerships at The Green Institute. He currently resides in Sweden. His passion for sustainability extends through academia, public policy, and the private sector.

Born in Nigeria and raised in South Africa, Chinomnso holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. His experiences working in the engineering sector, and with Small Medium Enterprises (SME) in Africa, provide him with broad understandings of inter-disciplinary/cultural approaches to sustainable development. He obtained his Master’s degree in Leadership and Organisation for Sustainability from Malmö University, Sweden where he received the Malmö University Student Union award - for outstanding contribution to the lives of students within and beyond the University. In addition, he is a recipient of the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) MFS scholarship. Chinomnso is the co-founder of SustainMe (a sustainability knowledge sharing podcast/platform) and co-founder of Futurely (a sustainability transition consultancy in Sweden).

As a project manager, Chinomnso has great interest in effective leadership to help organizations transition towards sustainable project outcomes. He is a driven individual with a desire to make a sustainable contribution to society. He values learning and uses every opportunity to develop himself and others, with the belief that “to change is to challenge the status quo.”

Given his diverse background, Chinomnso focuses on engaging various stakeholders through education and advocacy to champion sustainable relationships/partnerships between Africa and the rest of the world.
