Dr. Taghi Miri

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Taghi Miri is a Chemical Engineer with over 20 years of research experience. Taghi Miri received his PhD under the direction of Prof. Peter Fryer from the University of Birmingham. His PhD research focused on plant-based Quorn mycoprotein processing (Marlow Food). After his PhD, he took up post-doctoral posts working on microbial inactivation and pasteurisation of food (EPSRC), bread dough and bread production (CSM), instant coffee reformulation (Mondelez), PEPT-Flow (FP6) and washing powder reformulation (P&G). He then joined Arak University before returning to the University of Birmingham as a lecturer in Chemical Engineering in 2019.

Dr. Miri's has been involved with a number of different industries , including Marlow Food, CSM Bakery, Mondelez, P&G, Smithers Rapra. His research covers a range of topics, including: Plant-based food processing and safety, Future food: process and safety challenges of food reformulation, Novel Food Processing to enhance the safety and shelf life of food, Circular Economy, Food Waste Valorisation, Bioprocessing for environmental Engineering
